Domaine Bott-Geyl - Riesling Cru D’Alsace
Grafenrebem is a ‘Cru D’Alsace’, little brother to the ‘Grand Crus’ or a ‘Lieux-Dits’ (place of significant standard or name). It is otherwise a south east facing vineyard of clay and chalk soils that is ideal for Riesling, producing intense wines of full body with ‘fleshy’ stone fruit. The wines have an ageing potential of 15 years or more and advised of drinking no sooner than 4 years. Decanting is a must to allow the full expression of the wine through aeration.
(editors notes)As dry and racy as wine gets.. fans of up market Sauvignon Blanc might want to take their taste buds for a vacay’.. Try a wine like this with either a fatty piece of duck, indeed fois gras would be a treat but don’t overlook something simpler like a Thai or Malasian curry (idealy with a balance of heat and sweetnes)
